Easy Homemade Bagel Bites
Easy Homemade Bagel Bites

I remember bagel bites being a staple in my diet when I was a kid, however, they are not the healthiest for you. I made a version that has more whole grains, and not a laundry list of ingredients.

Yes, these bagel bites are totally homemade, and you will not believe how easy it is! The bagel dough is made out of 5 ingredients, however, it could possibly be made out of two! If you have self raising flour and Greek yogurt then you are good to go! I decided to add some whole wheat flour to my bagel to increase the whole grains content. Honestly, I love the flavor of whole wheat flour, so I always add it to any of my bread recipes!

Easy Homemade Bagel Bites

Key ingredients for these homemade bagel bites:

  • All purpose flour
    • I think all purpose flour is necessary for these bagel to keep them light and fluffy. I would not recommend using all whole wheat flour because the flavor will over power and they will be very dense.
  • Whole wheat flour
    • I love adding a little bit of this to add a little bit of that earthy wheat flavor. It also adds more nutrients to the recipe compared to those frozen bagel bites!
  • Baking powder
    • Do not forget this ingredient! It is super important to getting the bagels to rise and be light a fluffy. If you are using self rising flour, then you can omit this.
  • Greek yogurt
    • This MUST be Greek yogurt. I’ve tried using regular plain yogurt and it turned into a sticky mess. Vegan Greek yogurt will also work!
  • Pizza sauce
    • This can be homemade or store bought. Use your favorite one! I love the Primal Kitchen unsweetened pizza sauce.
  • Cheese
    • Use your favorite cheese! I love mozzarella for pizza. Vegan cheese will also work great.
  • Pepperoni
    • This little addition tops these bagel bites off perfectly! Leave off if you want to keep them vegan.
