Hello everyone! My name is Lindsey, and I am a 22 year old self taught recipe developer. I love creating new recipes that are both easy and healthy! Before I get into the back story of how I got to where I am now, I’ll tell you a bit about me. I am a competitive college volleyball player, at The Colorado School of Mines. I just graduated with my bachelors of science with a degree in mechanical engineering! Since, COVID-19 pushed most fall and winter sports, us athletes get another year of eligibility. I am taking this year to get my masters degree in mechanical engineering with an emphasis in biomechanics. I hope to work with athletes in the future and help them best optimize exercises for their competition. Although, my degrees focuses on biomechanics, I am also very interested in the aerospace field. I worked a whole summer in the aerospace field and loved it! Now the tricky part is finding time to pursue my passion for cooking and engineering at the same time!
I grew up as a very active kid, and played many sports throughout my life. However I decided to take volleyball to the next level where I played competitively at the NCAA division ll level. My freshmen year was rough when it came to eating healthy. The cafeteria was right downstairs, and I had unlimited meal swipes. I definitely was part of the freshmen 15, and I just did not feel like the best version of me. This was really the turing point where I decided that eating healthy and whole foods were the best way for me to fuel my body. Once I moved out of the freshmen dorms, I had access to a full kitchen, and this was when I started cooking and experimenting with food. I started buying healthy groceries, and cooking pretty easy meals to start. Then I realized that I enjoyed doing this, and I was actually pretty got at it. I started my Instagram page, with my sister, where we shared pictures of what we would make for meals. This started mostly for fun, but when senior year rolled around, I thought this would be the best place to share my recipes and teach people how I make my food. I was hesitant for a long time before doing this because I thought people would judge me and make fun of me, but then I realized WHO CARES! I love making food, and I know other people would enjoy my content. I started filming all the recipes I made, and posting a video on my Instagram everyday. My follower count grew pretty slowly, but I knew if I kept at it, my skills would improve, and more people would come to enjoy my content. Then I saw a great opportunity to post my videos to TikTok and Pinterest. These two platforms also grew with my Instagram page, and I got really excited. However, there were many many times when my content would get very little views, and I would get a little discouraged by that. Then I would go look at comments from you all, and they motivated me so much to keep posting! People would say “Please don’t stop posting, I love your recipes!”, and “So excited to make these with my kiddos tonight”. You all keep me going and I appreciate everyone who supports me! Even the haters because they give me a good laugh.
I hope I can keep inspiring people to make healthier recipes and actually enjoy eating healthy foods!
