You would never believe that you can make homemade yogurt with only two ingredients! This recipe is so easy and the the yogurt basically sits there all day. The only tedious part is in the beginning, but after that it’s a breeze.

I never thought that I could make yogurt at home, but it is actually super easy! You can also make different flavors by adding vanilla extract, cinnamon, and fruit puree!
Helpful equipment
- Thermometer – this is helpful in the first couple steps to see how hot the milk is.
- Yogurt maker – this can be helpful to regulate the temperature, but it is not necessary.
- Oven – if you don’t have a yogurt maker then you can place the mixture in an oven at 100F for 4 hours then turn the heat off. Reheat the oven to 100F for an additional 4-6 hours.

Tips for perfect yogurt:
- Make sure that the milk is heated up just before the boil. You do not want to boil it to ensure the milk proteins do not die off.
- Make sure the milk is cooled after heating. If you add the yogurt in when it is too hot, then the bacteria in the yogurt will die off.
- The longer the yogurt sits the thicker and more tarte it gets.

Key ingredients for homemade yogurt:
- Milk
- I have to recommend dairy milk for this recipe and any fat content will work. I haven’t used any plant milk, but it sill won’t be dairy free with the Greek yogurt.
- Greek yogurt
- I recommend using plain Greek yogurt. Any fat content will work because the bacteria cultures are all the same!
